HNS V2 is the next step in the continual evolution of Hedera’s #1 naming service that offers .hbar names. The update comprises an array of upgrades to the UI and UX of the platform which promises to make the purchase and collection of the domain names it offers a more fun, and enjoyable experience.
HNS currently offers .hbar, .cream, and .boo TLD’s, with more coming in the future from projects across the Hedera ecosystem.
Technical upgrades have been made to HNS to improve stability, reduce search times, and implement several other upgrades. The team has also secured partnerships with projects interested in expanding the Hedera ecosystem through mutually beneficial collaboration.

Upgrades for Days
OG users of HNS will immediately notice the upgrades to the UI on both the website and the app. These changes conform to the updated HNS branding from November of last year with the neon purple to black gradients and feature the HNS logo prominently.
Many of the upgrades to the platform were introduced in our Pre-Launch blog. The complete list of upgrades for HNS V2 are as follows:
- A shopping cart that allows batch purchases of names.
- A revamped ‘Your Domains’ section to view details about domains in your wallet.
- An upgraded metadata editing interface.
- A checkout page with detailed information about the status of purchases.
- New look and feel of the whole HNS site.
- Improved the codebase to facilitate speedy deployments of future upgrades.
- A system that ensures all transactions can be completed without needing a refund.
- An overhauled indexer and resolver to ensure consistent uptime.
Walking through the New Platform
Upon visiting app.hashgraph.name, the platform improvements should be immediately apparent. A gradient of colors reflecting the new HNS branding greets users along with a host of features.
Users can search for names in the prominent search bar in the center of the page, and no longer need to specify the TLD they want. Searching for a name now displays the availability of that name under all the TLD’s HNS offers, and the time period to hold the name for. Each order is then added to the shopping cart.
Open the shopping cart at the top right corner of any section of the app to see what new names and extensions have been queued up for an account. Select the desired time frame for new names and extensions, then Checkout to perform an equivalent series of batched purchases. Follow the steps in the HashPack app in order to complete the transactions to purchase names.
Clicking on the drop-down menu under the connected account gives users options to view the HBAR balance and domain names associated with their account, FAQ about HNS, and to disconnect from the site.
The updated ‘Your Domains’ section is vastly more interactive than before. Now, name holders can easily view their names and their respective expiration dates.
Clicking on a given name opens up Domain Details and the revamped metadata editing interface.
From the Your Domains section, name holders can also choose to extend the expiration date of their names by up to 10 years at a time by clicking the clock button on the far right. The chosen extension period will be added to the holder’s shopping cart.
New Stock Art for for .hbar Names
The background art for the flagship TLD on HNS — .hbar has been upgraded!
The new art should be quite familiar to people in the Hedera community with a visual representation of a hashgraph.
Prominently featured at the top right is the new HNS logo with its vivid neon purple color scheme. At the core of the image is a series of circles and lines designed to represent hashes and the multitudinous connections between them as they proliferate across the graph.
Across the ecosystem where .hbar names from HNS can be viewed, for example in your HashPack wallet and on SentX NFT marketplace, the new art should make names easier to identify.
