HNS V2: Pre-Launch Check

What does an overhaul of the UI for Hedera’s #1 naming service look like? It comes in the form of HNS V2.

Since November 2023, HNS has alluded to an overhaul of the platform that will usher in sweeping changes. That overhaul is known as HNS V2, and it will positively impact the way name holders and prospective name holders purchase names on the platform. Currently, HNS offers .hbar, .boo, and .cream TLD’s.

HNS V2 is expected to go live by February, 2024, within just a few weeks of the release of this blog. Take a look at some of the upgrades that will be included in the launch and make HNS more fun and engaging for cavalier name collectors, Hedera-natives, and NFT traders alike.

What is HNS V2?

HNS V2 is simply the name of the large bundle of technical upgrades that will be deployed on the HNS naming service platform by February, 2024. There will be no changes to the URL to access the HNS homepage (hashgraph.name) or app (app.hashgraph.name).

However, there will be many changes to the way the site looks and how name holders interact with it. The HNS team expects that visitors will find the site more interactive, easier to navigate, and more fun to purchase names from.

There are countless precedents in the Web3 space of platforms launching second and third versions that feature upgrades to UI, UX, and feature sets. For example, Uniswap is set to launch its V4 platform this year.

What Upgrades Can Users Expect?

Now it’s time to unveil some of the planned releases for HNS V2! Please note that the list of upgrades is not exhaustive as there are some things that cannot be discussed until V2 is launched.

• Added a shopping cart function that allows batch purchases of names.
• Introduced a checkout page that shares detailed information about the status of purchases.
• Refreshed the look and feel of the HNS homepage and app to match the new branding.
• Removed unnecessary dependencies in the codebase, which will speed up deployments of future upgrades.
• Overhauled the auto-refunds system to ensure that all transactions can be completed.
• Implemented improvements to the Indexer and resolver to ensure consistent uptime.

What Will Post-V2 Hedera Look Like?

After the launch of HNS V2, Hedera users will have greater access to the TLD’s sold by the platform.

The HNS team expects that many more Hedera-based projects, and possibly others across the Web3 ecosystem, will express an increasing amount of interest to collaborate with HNS once they see what this platform is truly about.
